I currently work at Subway as an Assistant Manager. I started work with the company almost three years ago. The pay isn't very good, but the hours are flexible enough for me to go to school full time. Sometimes money isn't everything, and that might be the most important thing I learned from this job.
Every year we donate are time by helping with "The Ride for Roswell" which recieves donations to support cancer research. This has been my first experience as a volunteer in the community, and I find it to be very rewarding.
I had the unique opportunity to volunteer at the Aspire School of Learning for a community research project. I worked with two Occupational Therapists who have started their own buisness called Creative Kinections. They coordinate movement therapy and fitness with music for an overall excellent result. They make every child feel loved, special, and assist them in having as much fun as possible, while cleverly intertwining music and props with exercise, fitness, and health. Children attending receive occupational therapy based services in a fun and exciting way, which makes them feel like they are just enjoying a 30-45 minute dance party every week. They love it! I was lucky enough to have made such a good impression with these therapists that they have offered me paid employment as a part of their Creative Movement team this summer.
Cradle Beach Cradle Beach Camp serves the needs of disabled and disadvantaged children from Western New York. They provide a healthy environment and organized activities to promote socialization, self-worth, and decision making, in an atmosphere of love and acceptance. Children who would never be able to participate in a camping experience are welcomed here, and can recieve the help that they need. This summer I will be working as a counselor at Cradle Beach Camp. I put their video below this, because the people involved can describe how wonderful it is much better than I can.
